The deceased Arunkumar (23) and his friend Santhosh (21), both from Nilgiri district had gone for a bath in the reservoir on Thursday evening, along with seven other students.
While returning, the others found Arunkumar and Santhosh missing, following which they lodged a complaint with the police, who launched a search for the duo.
The bodies were retrieved from the reservoir around 6 PM, they said.
