Head Constable Udai Singh died due to a bullet shot while he was patrolling in Alwar district of Rajasthan on Monday night. Policemen on duty had claimed that Udai died due to an accidental misfire from his own service pistol.
However, his family members suspected foul play and alleged that Udai had been murdered, Additional Superintendent of Police (Alwar) Anil Kayal said today.
"There were also contradiction in the versions given by policemen. So the incident, as stated by them, was doubtful," he said.
A case was registered last evening against the SHO Sardar Singh and Sub-inspector Kanwar Singh under section 302 of IPC. Both of them have also been shunted to the police lines, Kayal said
The matter is under investigation, he added.
