Bekal Resorts Development Corporation Limited (BRDC), under the state tourism department, is organising the workshop, according to a release.
"The preliminary workshop is a part of the government's several initiatives giving priority to small and medium entrepreneurs to boost tourism in north Malabar region," the release said.
The programmes will focus on finding new opportunities for the entrepreneurs, coordinating them and providing guidelines for best practice.
The two-day workshop- being organised in association with Press Club, Kasaragod -- will focus on businesses such as budget resorts, home stays, farm tourism, ayurveda centres, houseboats, tour operations, responsible tourism, indigenous art, kalaripayattu, yoga centres, handicraft and souvenir making.
There will be a huge opportunities in tourism once the Kannur International Airport project becomes operational and the National Waterway, which extends up to Bekal, according to T K Manzoor, Managing Director BRDC.
