Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bundi district Dr O P Verma said Prembai (40) in Diyali village and Ramdhani (35) in Paie village had succumbed to the fever which generally strikes in snow-clad places.
He said outbreak of typhus in a hot region like Rajasthan was a matter of "great concern" as its generally strikes snow clad cool places.
Dr S L Meena, in-charge of the Community Health Centre at Nainwa, claimed, "For the first time typhus fever has surfaced in the state."
Other patients suspected to be suffering from typhus from the two villages are reportedly undergoing treatment at different private hospitals in Kota and Jaipur.
Verma said adequate medical equipments to diagnose this kind of fever were not available, but preventive measures to check the fever were being taken in both the villages and medicines are being distributed to its residents.
