Two dead in mishap on Hisar-Delhi highway

Mamata, the polytechnic student, and Sanjay, working as clerk in Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam succumbed died in the mishap, police said.

Sanjay succumbed to injuries in a private hospital here, they said.

After the mishap, several persons including students of Guru Jambheshwar University and Polytechnic College staged dharna, pelted stones on roadways buses and blocked roads demanding construction of speed breakers on routes prone to accidents.

Traffic on Hisar-Chandigarh, Hisar-Delhi national highway and Hisar-Sirsa highway remained suspended for several hours as the protestors blocked vehicles on these routes, they said.

The agitating students also demanded stoppage of roadways buses near the college.

In view of the blockage, traffic on the affected routes was diverted.

Later, on assurance by district administration officials to protestors that their problems would be resolved soon, the blockade was lifted and normal movement of vehicular traffic was restored by late afternoon.
