"Two students of Maharishi Vidya Mandir were on their way to school on a speeding motorcycle and the other person, was also coming on his motorbike from the opposite direction when they collided head on at the busy Na-Ali Road in Jorhat police station, killing two of them on the spot and critically injuring the other school boy," Superintendent of Police Anamjeet Kaur said.
The victims have been identified as Anirudha Kashayap Mahanta, a science student of class-XI, and Rashidul Rahman, a technical operator of a private telecom company.
Kaur said the students were on their way to school to attend the freshers social programme and were racing on their bike with two other friends on another bike who surged ahead while the victims collided head on with Rahman.
