Three houses and several shops were gutted in Lakhimpur town following a short circuit in a shop which sparked off the fire last night.
In another incident in Nalbari town, three houses and seven shops were gutted due to a short circuit this morning.
Six fire tenders were pressed into service to bring the fire under control, sources added.
