Subhash (39) and Shani (22) were making crackers in the house in Piramishir village in Mayel area when the incident occurred.
As a result of the explosion the roof collapsed and the house caught fire and the two died on the spot, they said.
Police said Subhash had a licence to prepare crackers, police said, adding, they were probing the matter.
