Two government doctors and a nurse were suspended here today after media reports stating that donated eyes were discovered in garbage within the Jaya Arogya Hospital (JAH) premises, were found to be true.
The Gwalior Divisional Commissioner K K Khare ordered suspension of JAH's Opthalmology Department Head U S Tiwari, its cornea unit in-charge S K Shakya and nurse Massi, the operation theatre in-charge.
"They were suspended after prima facie it was found that donated eyes were found in the garbage in hospital premises," Khare told PTI.
He also ordered a probe into the matter which will be conducted by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Vidisha Mukherjee.
Angry at the incident, enraged relatives of the late Amrit Gambhir, whose eyes were donated to the hospital staged a protest before the hospital dean's office.
