Two drug smugglers held in Jharkhand

Two persons were arrested with narcotic product worth around Rs five lakhs from Kund Mohalla under Town Police station area of Medininagar in Palamau district today, police said.
The arrested duo was identified as Chappan Khalifa (45) and Umesh Ram (40), DySP Ajay Kumar said, adding, that a search for a woman, Jubaida Begum, suspected to be the kingpin has been initiated.
Acting on a tip-off, the district police, led by the Town police station Officer-in-Charge Manoj Thakur in disguise as customers approached the duo, who had concealed the heroin in packets in their shoes.
They were nabbed the moment they took the packets out, Kumar said, adding, that the duo has confessed of supplying around 1000 such packets in the township in a day.
It was learnt during interrogation, that the drug was procured from Benaras and Mandsor, he added.
