Two fake 'tantrics' who claimed to solve problems of people were arrested here today, police said.

The accused, Shamim Abdul Ghafoor (57) and Mayank Sharma (19), used to offer their services for solving problems like marital dispute, domestic strife etc to those who used to approach them, a police official said.

Ghafoor and Sharma hailed from Delhi and Meerut, respectively.

"The duo were operating from an office in Tukoganj locality since the last five months," said Additional Superintendent of Police, crime branch, Amrendra Singh.

They had even distributed pamphlets in a bid to attract gullible people.

He said Ghafoor and Sharma initially used to charge Rs 200 from their customers for performing some rituals.

"They would then start extracting money in name of performing advanced rituals," the officer said, adding that hundreds of people were duped by the duo.

The two were booked under various sections of the IPC and the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act.
