Two Forward Bloc leaders resign from party posts
Press Trust of India Kolkata Two senior leaders of the All India Forward Bloc, an ally of West Bengal's opposition Left Front, have resigned from party posts protesting the leadership's "failure" to guide the party after its worst performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
Former state minister Hafiz Alam Sairani and party leader Udayan Guha resigned as the party's state secretariat members, party sources said today.
Forward Bloc has failed to secure any seat in the Lok Sabha elections.
Though Sairani refused to comment, Guha accepted that he has resigned from all party posts.
"We have received resignation letters from both of them. We will discuss the matter in the state secretariat," Forward Bloc leader Naren Chatterjee said.
Revolt in Forward Bloc is the latest addition to the series of protests and demands which the CPI(M)-led ten-party Left Front alliance is facing over the demand of immediate change in the Front's leadership following its decimation in the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal.
