Two get 7 years jail for raping minors in separate cases

Two persons, including a teacher, were sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment for raping minors by two different courts in Uttarakhand in separate cases.
District and Sessions Judge in Uttarkashi R C Khulbe yesterday sentenced a teacher to seven years in prison after he pleaded guilty to raping a class 10 student of his school in March 2011.
The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on him.
Manish Rawat took a 15-year-old girl of his school to Chinyalisaur on some pretext and raped her on March 29, 2011, Public prosecutor said.
In another case dating back to 2011, Additional District and Sessions Judge of Rishikesh Rajiv Khulbe yesterday sentenced Narendra Singh Rawat to seven years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl in Haripurkalan after forcing his entry into her house when she was alone.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on him.
