Two girl students jump into river, rescued by local youth
Press Trust of India Jammu Two girl students of a private school today allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping into a river in Akhnoor area of Jammu district, and were rescued by a local youth.
"Two girl students of Class VIII and IX of a private school in Akhnoor jumped in the Chenab River this evening, however they were rescued by a local youth who watched them jumping into the river," a police officer said.
He said that girls have been brought to the Akhnoor police station where police is trying to ascertain the reason behind these girls attempting to take the extreme step.
"We have called their parents and school teachers, but these girls are yet to disclose why they attempted to commit suicide," the officer said.
