Two govt engineers caught accepting bribe by vigilance

Vigilance bureau sleuths today arrested two engineers posted in the Bihar building construction deparment whom it caught red-handed while accepting close to Rs 90,000 in bribe.
A trap was laid by a team led by Vigilance Deputy S P Kanishk Kumar Singh which was acting on the complaint of a contractor Ramesh Shankar Pandey against executive engineer Amarendra Kumar and junior engineer Vidyasagar.
The complainant had accused the two officials of demanding a bribe for payments against the bill he had submitted upon construction of a hospital, sources in the vigilance department said.
The bill amount was Rs 50 lakh out of which payment for Rs 30 lakh was pending.
At their office this morning, Amarendra was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 33,000 while Vidyasagar was caught red-handed taking Rs 55,000.
The engineers were being interrogated and will be produced before a designated court, the sources added.
