Two govt officers arrested for taking bribes

Vigilance sleuths today arrested two government officers on the charge of accepting bribes at Aska in Ganjam district and Boudh district.
A junior engineer posted at Aska was arrested for allegedly accepting bribe Rs 10,000 from a village labour leader to process and prepare pending bill of the labourers working under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
In another case a section officer in the divisional manager, Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC), Boudh was arrested on charge of accepting Rs 3000 from a person to process and prepare the pending transportation bill of around Rs 45,000, sources said.
The bribe money in both the cases were recovered and some documents were seized from them, said vigilance SP (Berhampur) Manoranjan Panda.
The houses of both the accused persons were raided, he added.
