Two govt officials held for accepting bribe in Maha

Two senior officers of the irrigation department of the Maharashtra government were today arrested by the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 55,000, a senior official said.
Engineer Kishore Agrawal and Divisional Accountant Rajnish Ranjan who were attached to the Ghatghar hydro-electric power project were nabbed while accepting the bribe of Rs 55,000, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Thane ACB Sanjay Mohite was quoted as saying in a release.
While Agrawal demanded Rs 50,000 and Ranjan asked for Rs 5,000 as bribe from the complainant contractor for passing his bill for the work he carried out, Mohite added.
According to Mohite, a case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988 has been registered against the duo at the Kalwa police station.
The accused were produced before a local magistrate who remanded them in police custody till March 30, it added.
