Two persons have been arrested by the customs authorities at the IGI airport for allegedly smuggling in gold biscuits worth Rs 2.82 crore from Hong Kong.
Officials said the incident was reported yesterday when sleuths intercepted the duo, based on profiling, after they crossed the green channel at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
The fliers were coming from Hong Kong and they were made to undergo a thorough search after which 10 gold biscuits weighing 1 kg each were recovered from the belts they had tied around their waists under the trousers.
They said the duo were arrested under customs laws and the market value of the seized gold is Rs 2.82 crore.
