Both the passengers had arrived from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, here yesterday and were arrested when they were trying to illegally bring gold bars hidden in iron presses, customs officials said.
They were intercepted and their baggages examined. On examination of one passenger's baggages, eight gold bars were found concealed in two iron press, they said.
The total weight of recovered gold bars was about 866 gms collectively valued at Rs 21.48 lakh. The customs officials also recovered gold bars weighing 1,166 gms worths Rs 28.92 lakh hidden in iron press and between two locks, the officials said.
