Two held for murder attempt on assistant sub-inspector

Two persons have been arrested in connection with an murder attempt on an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) at Panambur here on July 21, police said.
The ASI, Puranadar Gowda, was attacked while he was trying to nab a four-member gang relating to another case.
The gang members had fled the place after trying to hit the ASI with their speeding car.
Gowda, who escaped with injuries, has been hospitalised.
Chandu Haris (26) and Mohiuddin Adil (20), were arrested from Suratkal near here while trying to escape on a bike, police said.
Police also seized the car used for trying to murder the inspector and seven stolen two-wheelers from them.
The arrested duo had over 20 criminal cases pending against them, police said.
