Two held for murder of elderly, his caretaker

Two persons were arrested today for allegedly killing a senior citizen and his caretaker in Bramhand locality of Thane's Ghodbunder area, police said.
Sitaram Shroff and his caretaker Santosh Lavangare (40) were found dead inside an apartment in Highland Parks housing complex on Tuesday night.
The accused were identified as Prashant Sadashiv Pawar (28) and his friend Ashish Virendra Yadav (19), both residents of Kalyan, DCP (Crime) Parag Manere said.
Prashant's father was employed as a caretaker of the Shroff's family about one year back and assisted his father on some occasions.
The officer said the accused's father use to stay Shroff's house fulltime and on few occasions when he was not available his son stayed. During his stay, Prashant stole money due to which his father lost his job, the DCP said.

"Enraged over it, Prashant planned to kill Shroff with help of his friend. He also stole nearly Rs 30,000 from the spot after committing the crime," he said.
