Two held for robbery

Two persons have been arrested
in connection with the last week's robbery at an electronics store in eastern suburbs of the city, police said today.
Shajad Sheikh (21) and Fahim Khan alias Guddu (24) were picked up last night on the lead provided by the main accused cum shop manager Kasim Siddique who was arrested on June 10.
The robbery had taken place on June 9 when two persons wearing helmet entered the shop and threatened Siddique at a knife point.
They looted cash worth Rs 2.92 lakh kept in the drawer before fleeing.
Police said Siddiqui's role came to light as he alerted police nearly an hour after the incident had taken place.
"During the investigation, police found Siddique's version of the sequence of events contradictory. Upon grilling, he confessed to his role in crime," said Rajaram Vhanmane, senior inspector, Mulund police station.

The robbery plot was hatched by Siddique who had informed his accomplices about the exact location of the cash counter and a key to open it, police said.
According to police, Siddique informed police nearly an hour after the heist apparently to give time to Sheikh and Guddu to destroy evidence. The duo had dumped their clothes and helmets and also changed number plate of their motorcycle after the crime.
Police also recovered a black colour motorcycle which was used in the crime, the knife used for threatening, besides Rs 1.25 lakh of the booty.
