Two held on charges of throwing bombs at restaurant

Two persons were today arrested on charges of hurling four crude bombs at a restaurant, near here, police said today.

The incident occurred last night.

The two, who are from Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu, had quarrelled with the restaurant manager and workers over the quality of food served, police said.

The two, who also consumed liquor there, left but returned to hurl the bombs, they said.

While three of the four bombs exploded causing damage to the walls of the shop and also a showcase on the premises, no one was injured, Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajiv Ranjan said in a release.

The bomb detection squad seized the unexploded bomb for defusing, he added.
