Abdul Karim Khan and Babul Sheikh, both residents of Malda, were arrested yesterday and handed over to the police, the BSF said in a statement today.
"On August 23, information was received by BSF regarding smuggling of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) near the border outpost at Gulabganj. The BSF along with local police launched a special operation in the area near GBS High Madrasa at Baburbana under Kaliachak police station area, Malda," the press statement said.
On thorough search, few bundles of FICN of face value of Rs 3,80,000 (in denomination of 1000x99, 500x562) were found, tucked in their clothes, the statement said.
One motorcycle and two mobile phones were also seized from the duo, who were handed over to the police.
In raids this year, the BSF South Bengal Frontier has seized FICN of the face value of Rs 1,13,94,000 and apprehended 11 people in past several months.
