Over 500 kg of marijuana worth Rs 1.5 crore was seized and two persons were arrested here on charges of drug peddling in Delhi and the national capital region (NCR), police said on Friday.
The arrested duo, Sube Singh (31) and Deepak (34), are partners and work for one Dinesh Pal who is yet to be nabbed, they said.
Singh and Deepak procured marijuana from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha Border (AOB) forests at cheap rates and sold them at higher prices in Delhi-NCR, police said.
Seventeen bags containing 510 kg marijuana (cannabis) worth Rs 1.5 crore have been seized from them, they said.
On Thursday, police received a tip-off that an interstate drug peddlers gang would come near Tughlakabad village to deliver a huge consignment of marijuana concealed inside a special cavity in a truck bearing a Haryana registration number, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), G. Ram Gopal Naik said.
The suspects were apprehended and the contraband was seized while it was being transferred to a car, the officer said.

During interrogation, the two disclosed that they used to travel to Odisha and Andhra Pradesh border regularly by plane and purchased the contraband from Paidawalasa, a place near the AOB, the DCP said.
They usually smuggled drugs in a car or a truck but could not be caught during frisking of the vehicles as they concealed the contraband in the special cavity, the officer said.
The two were previously involved in cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Singh was convicted in a case of NDPS in Faridabad and was on bail. He is also a Proclaimed Offender in another NDPS case in the district, the officer said.
Beside, Singh is involved in three more NDPS cases while the other accused, Deepak, is out on bail in two NDPS cases registered in Uttar Pradesh, police said.
