Two home guards given bravery certificates

: Two home guards who chased away two armed persons and seized arms and ammunition from them last month were today presented bravery certificates by Superintendent of Police, Dr Sudhakar.
Shanmughasundar and Satish, attached to Mettupalayam wing of Home Guard were on night rounds at Kallar on the Ooty-Mettupalayam Road late night on April 24 when they noticed the duo fleeing on seeing them. They gave chase and nabbed them
A search revealed a country made gun and some cartridges and they immediately alerted police, who rushed to the spot rushed to the spot, arrested the two and registered a case under Arms Act 1959 Sec 25 (1) (a).

The certificates were given to them in appreciatio of their action, a release from the office of Home Guard, Coimbatore District, said.
