Two senior IAS officers who were on leave for more than eight-and-a-half months after they were superseded by V C Pharka for the post of Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh government have joined duty.
Pharka, a 1983 batch IAS officer, was appointed as Chief Secretary, superseding five senior officers, on June 1 last year on superannuation of P K Mitra.
Deepak Shanan and Vineet Chowdhary joined duty after they moved the Central Administrative Tribunal and were directed by the CAT bench to join duty, while the state government was directed to "sympathetically" consider the request for "suitable adjustment", official sources said.
Shanan's superannuation is on January 31, while Chowdhary will retire from service in September next year.
Both the officers have given their choice and asked the state government to immediately pass appropriate orders. The matter would come hearing on January 27.
