Two inspectors among 4 cops dismissed in Pb

Four police officials including two inspectors have been dismissed from service on the charge of grave negligence in performance of their duty, in connection with the murder of a Canada-based NRI in the district, police said today.
Among those who were dismissed yesterday, also include a sub-inspector and one assistant sub-inspector rank officials, police said.
Moga SP (detective), Harjit Singh Pannu told reporters here today that the four officials were dismissed after a thorough probe, in which it was found that they were "negligent" in performing their duty, while one was allegedly found to be "hand-in-glove" with the accused.
Those dismissed from the service include Inspector Bhola Singh, Inspector Kuljinder Singh, SI Guljinderpal Singh and ASI Bhag Mal.

While three of the police officials were found negligent in the case involving a land dispute related to the NRI, Inspector Bhola Singh was allegedly found to be hand-in-glove with the main accused Baljinder Kaur and helped her in the execution of some fake documents in the case.
According to Pannu, police registered a case against brothers Kuldeep Singh and Kulbir Singh; Baljinder Kaur, Rajinder Singh, Bhola Singh and 4-5 unknown persons in connection with the NRI's murder here earlier this month.

Rajinder Singh had been arrested yesterday while Baljinder Kaur, the main accused in the case, had surrendered yesterday before a court in Mohali. She was later on brought here by the police on production warrant and will be produced before a Moga court.

On April 14, NRI Harjinder Singh was gunned down allegedly over a land dispute at Kaliye Wala village in this district when he was supervising the harvesting of the wheat crop.
Barely days before his murder, the NRI's relatives claim that he had repeatedly approached the police officials fearing threat to his life, but the police officials allegedly did not heed his requests.
After the incident, the victim's sister had met Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and sought strict action against the culprits.
