The landslide affected 34 households, according to Bijie city's information department.
Rescuers have managed to pull out six persons, among whom two died and 25 others remain missing, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Search efforts are continuing, it said.
Landslides are a frequent danger in rural and mountainous parts of China, particularly after heavy rains. Mountainous Guizhou is one of China's poorest provinces.
Last week, Typhoon Hato, the strongest to hit southern China in 53 years, left a trail of death and destruction in the region.
The government evacuated 26,817 people to temporary shelters. About 664 hectares of farmland has been damaged.
Earlier this month, massive landslides in southwestern Sichuan province killed nearly 24 people and left scores missing.
