Two killed in accidents in Odisha

At least two persons were killed and 35 injured, some of them critically, in separate road accidents in Odisha's Mayurbhanj and Kandhamal districts early today.
Two persons died and 23 others sustained injuries when a van carrying members of a wedding party overturned near Saratchandrapur in Mayurbhanj district, police said.
The mishap occurred when the van lost control and turned turtle while returning to Bankadahara under Betanoti area after the wedding ceremony at Saratchandrapur, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Abhimanyu Nayak said.
The injured were admitted to the hospital here. The deceased were identified as Sukul Tudu (18) and Navin Marandi (50), police said.
In another accident in Kandhamal district, 12 people were injured, two of them critically, when the bus carrying them overturned near Ranipathar Ghati, about 24 km from the district headquaarters town of Phulbani, police said.
The mishap took place in the wee hours when the bus carrying passengers was proceeding to Rourkela from Berhampur. The injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital, Phulbani. Two of them were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as their condition deteriorated, they added.
