"Two persons were killed and another injured when three iron plates fell on them while they were cleaning the boiler in Essar power plant in Salaya I," a police official said.

The Salaya I power plant, located near Essar Oil's refinery complex at Vadinar in Jamnagar, is an imported coal-fuelled thermal power plant with two 600-MW generation units, the company website says, adding that the Unit I of the power plant began its commercial operations in April 2012.
"Out of the two boilers of Essar Power's Salaya plant, one was under routine maintenance. There was an incidence leading to fatality of two contractual workers and injury to another one, who were then rushed to the hospital," the statement said.
"We are investigating the cause of incidence and currently are focused on providing proper medical care to the injured. At this moment, we have assured all cooperation to the family of the injured," it said.
