The bodies of the two killed, however, were taken away by other Maoists who managed to escape, SP Barun Kumar Sinha claimed.
Acting on a tip-off that the ultras were conducting a training programme at Kanani forest, security forces conducted a raid and following the encounter seized an INSAS rifle, 250 ammunition and a haul of Naxal literature including reading materials with instructions of making bombs, he said.
The INSAS rifle, incidentally, was the one which was looted from the guard of the Dhanbad Intercity Express last year and the book, on the guidelines for manufacturing bombs, generally used by the Army, Sinha said.
Meanwhile, recommendations for bravery awards for SP (Operations) Navin Kumar and a CRPF SHO Uma Shankar Rajak, both of whom displayed valour during the raid, were forwarded, Sinha said.
