Two men allegedly committed suicide over domestic issues in separate incidents in northeast Delhi's Harsh Vihar, police said on Thursday.

Both the incidents came to light on Wednesday, they said.

In the first incident, a 26-year-old labourer, identified as Sanjeev, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his room in Harsh Vihar's street number 17.

After receiving the information, police reached the spot and found the body lying in the room, a senior police officer said.

Sanjeev's mother said that she found him lying unconsciously in the morning, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur.

He was rushed to GTB hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.

Thakur said Sanjeev was married for around six years and had a fight with his wife on Wednesday. The DCP suspected that the fight might have led him to take the extreme step.

The mother of Sanjeev suspected that he might have consumed liquor mixed with petrol, police said.

Police are waiting for the post-mortem report to know the exact cause of death, they said.

In another incident in Harsh Vihar, a 20-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at his house, police said.

The deceased, Suraj Chand, was also a labourer, they said.

On Wednesday afternoon, a police team reached street number 9 in Harsh Vihar after receiving the information and found Chand hanging from the ceiling fan in his room, a senior police officer said.

The labourer's father said Chand hanged himself on Wednesday afternoon.
