Thane Additional Sessions Judge M C Khadke in his order delivered yesterday held accused Israel Asfi Rahile (47) and Yakub Shaikh (45) guilty, under charges of voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation, which led to the killing of Afraz Farooq Khan in 2010.
The judge sentenced them to five-month imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 500 each against the duo.
Additional Public Prosecutor Hemlata Deshmukh told the court that the young powerloom worker Khan used to eat meals at the boarding house owned by the accused Rahile.
Initially, charges were framed under IPC section 302 (murder), but since charges of murder was not proved, the court held that the accused can be convicted under IPC section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional Insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and section 506 (criminal intimidation) only.
The third accused in the case, son of Rahile, who is a juvenile, his case has been transferred to the juvenile court.
