Two minor girls drowned in a ditch this morning in Bihar's Nalanda district.
The deceased have been identified as Himanshi Kumari, 5, and Tannu Kumari, 4 - both residents of Parmanand Bigha village in Noorsarai police station area of the district, a police officer said.
The bodies have been fished out of the 20-feet-deep ditch and sent to Bihar Sharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, Station House Officer Sunil Kumar Nirjhar said.
The ditch, next to the brick kiln, was filled with water, the SHO said, adding that the two girls were playing at the kiln when they slipped into the trench.
