The Ministry of Tourism said today it has sanctioned two new projects under Heritage and North East Circuits of Swadesh Darshan Scheme for Rs 164.95 crore in Punjab and Tripura.
'Swadesh Darshan' (tour of country) is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Tourism for the development of thematic circuits in the country in a planned and prioritised manner.
"In Punjab, the project covers sites of Anandpur Sahib Fatehgarh Sahib Chamkaur Sahib Ferozpur Amritsar Khatkar Kalan Kalanour Patiala at the cost of Rs 99.95 crore," the ministry said in a statement.
The project includes development of Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar at the cost of Rs 8 crore, development of tourist infrastructure and heritage path at Anandpur Sahib (Rs 28.99 crore), Fatehgarh Sahib covering sites of Samadhi of Shahid Uddham Singhji, Jajah Haveli of Divan Todar Mal, Mir Miran Tomb, Sadna Kasai Tomb (Rs 19.20 crore), it said.
The project would also undertake the development of Chamkaur Sahib (Rs 13.99 crore), Hussainiwala Border in Ferozepur (Rs 8 crore), Khatkar Kalan, Kalanaour and Patiala(Rs 17 crore), it added.
"The facilities being developed include Virtual Reality Shows (Jallianwala and Hussainiwala Border), beautification and landscaping, interpretation centres, faade development, wayside amenities, parking, CCTV and Wi-Fi facilities, cafeterias, open air theatre, drinking water facility," the statement said.

Under the North East Circuit in Tripura, the sites of Surma Cherra- Unakoti- Jampui Hills- Gunabati-Bhunaneshwari- Matabari- Neermahal- Boxanagar- Chotta khola- Pilak- Avangchaarra are covered with a total project cost of Rs 65 crore, it said.
"The project envisages infrastructural development of the sites with special emphasis on developing an interpretation centre, tourist visitor centres, cafeteria, last mile connectivity, illumination of sites and monuments, wayside amenities, floating jetties, camping grounds, parking facilities, adventure activities and ghat development at above sites," the ministry statement said.
