Two state government employees, including a senior officer, were arrested today for allegedly accepting a bribe amount of Rs 10,000 in exchange of releasing a seized boat of fish farming contractor in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
Lokayukta Superintendent of Police (SP) Dilip Soni said Anil Shinde, a manager with state government run Fisheries Federation and computer operator Rajesh Yadav were arrested from their office at Omkareshwar.
The manager of the Fisheries Federation was allegedly taking bribe from a contractor Bharat Yadav through his subordinate computer operator Rajesh Yadav.
Soni said the fishing contractor had complained to the Lokayukta police against both these officials.
In his complaint, the contractor said that his boat was seized during the period of a government ban on the fishing in July this year.
It was alleged that instead of releasing the boat, the manager and computer operator of the federation demanded a bribe and implicated him in a false case.
He said that a case was registered against both the government officials under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Further investigations are going on in the case, he added.
