Two police officers arrested on graft charges

Two police officials were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials for allegedly demanding bribe from a man on the pretext of helping him to get bail for his jailed brother, police said today.
The accused have been identified as Police Sub-Inspector Ranjana Chandrakant Bansode and Police Naik Govind Bhamare, attached to Nashik Road police station, an ACB release said.
The duo had asked for a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a man on the pretext of helping him in getting bail for his brother, who is lodged in Nashik Road Central Jail in a case, it said.
On receiving the complaint, the ACB sleuths yesterday laid a trap and caught the police officials red-handed while taking the amount, it said.
The accused were arrested and further investigation is on, the release added.
