Two Public Works Department (PWD) officials in Chhattisgarh have been suspended for corruption and allegedly committing irregularities.
Maddheshwar Prasad, Executive Engineer (in-charge) PWD's Balodabazar division, and Assistant Engineer at the office of Engineer-in-Chief (Raipur) Rajesh Kumar Verma were suspended on Wednesday, an official statement said today.
The action against the duo was taken on the direction of PWD Minister Rajesh Munat, it said.
Anti-Corruption Bureau had detected disproportionate assets worth around Rs 6 crore and seized Rs 50 lakh in cash from different premises of Prasad during a raid in March 30.
The 51-year-old officer was suspended for violation of Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules 1965 as his actions had brought disrepute to the department.
The action against Verma has been taken for committing irregularities in construction of a bridge on Arpa river in Bilaspur district, the statement added.
