Naib tehsildar Abhijit Deshmukh and talati Janardhan Suryavanshi were held at their Kalyan office here yesterday while they were taking Rs 25,000 as bribe from a complainant, a press release issued by ACB Thane unit said.
The two officers had demanded a total of Rs 30,000 from the aggrieved person for handing him over permission to excavate around 100 brass sand, follwing which he lodged a complaint with the ACB, Thane.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act against the two officers and further investigations are underway, it said.
