Two robbers get life-term for looting truck on highway

Additional District Sessions judge Ramesh Diwaker has also imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 on each of the accused -- Suresh and Narender -- after holding them guilty yesterday.

According to the prosecution, cigarettes worth lakhs of rupees were being carried from Saharanpur to Pune in the truck when it was looted near Shamli on the Saharanpur-Delhi highway on April 15, 2005.

Later, police had recovered some looted cigarettes in Delhi while arresting the two accused.
