Additional sessions judge Gulshan Kumar sentenced Delhi residents Jitender and Ajay to a seven-year jail term for attempting to murder a labourer and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them.
"In this case, injured is a young person. Both convicts have tried to murder the victim by using firearm. Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of this case, convicts Jitender and Ajay are sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for period of seven years," the judge said.
The case was registered at Neb Sarai police station in December, 2009, after the victim's younger brother Ravi had lodged a compliant saying the accused had shot at his brother Manoj after an argument.
He had told police that on the day of the incident, he and his brother were standing on the street when the two accused were passing by. The accused had a heated argument with Manoj over some issue after which they left the spot.
However, the duo came back later in the evening and Jitender caught hold of his brother while Ajay fired a shot with a pistol, which hit Manoj. The victim was rushed to hospital.
