A 21-year-old student allegedly committed suicide here with his family claiming that he was upset after he could not get a free laptop under a UP government scheme.
Police, however, claimed that the suicide note of Alok Verma does not mention anything about the laptop and suspected family issues to be the reason behind the extreme step.
"21-year-old Alok Verma hanged himself last night. His father Radheshyam has alleged that Alok was upset when he did not get a laptop under the state govt scheme and his friends got it," a police spokesman said here.
"The suicide note written by Alok does not mention anything about the laptop. He has written, 'I am sorry Papa. Please don't bother my father, there is no mistake of his. Police is investigating the matter," he added.
In another incident of suicide, a student preparing for CPMT hanged himself in the bathroom of the hostel he was staying in.
"17-year-old Shubham Parmar hanged himself in the hostel's bathroom last night. His friends have told police that he was upset with the vast course for the entrance exam and committed suicide because of it," police said.
Both the bodies have been sent for post mortem and police is investigating.
