Two students of a law college here were detained by police Friday following a report filed by the college principal claiming that at least four students had applied seeking admissions to 3-year LLB courses by submitting fake caste certificates.

The two students here are now being questioned in the police station, said local Malgodown police station IIC Debi Prasad Patra.

While one of them is a SC student had submitted a fake ST certificate, the other is a general student who submitted a fake ST certificate to seek admission into M S Law College, Patra said.

Two others named in the report did not turn up for admission on the day, he added.

Law College principal Sukant K Nanda said doubts arose when it was found that each of these four students were issued with two acknowledgement cards bearing the same number.

They had earlier applied in other categories. But failing to make the cut, they applied again in the special drive, he said.
