Two swept away by Bhagirathi river

Two persons were swept away by the swirling waters of the Bhagirathi when the van they were travelling in fell into the river in Bishanpur area near Harshil in Uttarkashi district, police said today.
However, four other occupants of the vehicle were saved, they said.
The mishap occurred late last evening on Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway when the vehicle slipped off the road and fell into the river, they said.
The group was going from Uttarkashi to Harshil.
Two persons were swept away by the strong currents of the river but four other occupants of the van were saved.
Those swept away by the river have been identified as 17-year-old Chandra Singh of Bageshwar and 20-year-old Narendra from Haryana, police sources said.
