The incident came to light on Sunday evening when a forest guard spotted the carcasses in Mul forest range in TATR buffer zone, they said.
The cubs were killed by a male tiger, Deputy Director, Tadoba Buffer Zone, Gajendra Narwane told PTI.
According forest officials, both the cubs had suffered serious injuries. One of them had suffered a puncture in the skull while the other had a fracture in the mandible (lower jaw or jaw bone).
Narwane said the pug marks of a female tigress, most probably their mother, were found near the spot, where the cubs were dragged and killed.
It is suspected that the cubs, a male and a female, were killed to either to retain territory or to induce the female for mating, the officer added.
