Two undertrial prisoners today escaped from the lock up in the civil court premises in Jehanabad district, a police officer said.
The two, Himanshu and Suraj, were brought from district jail for production before the court and were kept inside lock up there, Superintendent of Police Aditya Kumar said.
They escaped from there by cutting ventilator of the lock up bathroom, he said.
Himanshu was arrested in several cases of vehicle lifting in Jehanabad and nearly districts, while Suraj was accused in connection with four cases of theft.
Searches were on to nab the two and all police stations in the district were alerted.
Action would be taken against the policemen deployed to escort the two inmates, Kumar said.
