Two Uzbek women have been arrested here for allegedly running a flesh trade racket under the garb of operating a dance troupe and forcing two of their female relatives into prostitution, police said.
Shahnaz (27) and Nazakat (25) were arrested yesterday after the two relatives escaped from their clutches on the pretext of meeting their customers and approached the police, a senior police officer said.
The accused, who had come to India on a business visa, were allegedly running the racket from a house in D-block, Kailash Colony at Greater Kailash-I, the officer said.
About six months ago, the accused invited their two female relatives here on the pretext of making them join their dance troupe, police said. But after the relatives arrived, they were forced into prostitution, the officer said.
"They (the accused) had claimed that they were running dance group in India and offered them (victims) salary of around Rs 10,000 per month. The victims' parents accepted their proposal and sent their daughters to India," he said.
When the victims refused to get into prostitution, they were beaten and starved by the accused, the police officer said.
"They (accused) confined and also starved them (victims) for several days at their residence in Kailash Colony. Later, the victims broke down and started visiting their clients' homes. Several times, they narrated their ordeal to their customers, but instead of helping them, the customers informed the accused women who in turn thrashed them," the police officer said.
"The incident came to light yesterday afternoon when the two victims approached the police," he added.
