Two women murder their husbands

"The charred body of one Usman (35), working as a porter, was found in a rented room at Azad Nagar area here this morning. His wife emerged as the prime suspect in preliminary investigation," SP O P Tripathi said.

Usman's wife has allegedly confessed to the crime over a phone call.

"She told us that she set Usman ablaze after dousing him with kerosene as he was forcing her for prostitution," Tripathi said.

In another incident, Meenakshi, apparently fed up over frequent quarrels with her husband Dinesh, allegedly bludgeoned him to death.

She later approached the local police and confessed to the murder of the history-sheeter, Tripathi said.

"The couple used to fight often. When they were returning home from Kalani Nagar area last night, Dinesh allegedly tried to push his three minor daughters before a moving truck following which the accused hit her husband with a heavy stone which resulted in his death on the spot," the officer said.

Meena was arrested this morning, he added.
