Two women naxals carrying cash rewards surrender in Gadchiroli

Two dreaded women naxals, carrying cash rewards on their heads, surrendered in Gadchiroli district today, police said.
The two naxals were identified as Jaya alias Shanti Masu Mattami (24), deputy commander of platoon number 14, and Ranita alias Sunita Namdev Kodape (18) of Sironcha Dalam.
According to police, while Mattami carried a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on her head, the bounty on Kodape was Rs 2 lakh.
Mattami has 21 cases of serious offences, including murders, encounters and ambush attack.
Kodape, who had been with Sironcha Dalam from February 2016, has eight cases of murder and 23 other offences of serious nature registered against her, police said.
"The duo was involved in serious offences like killings, encounters and ambush attack," police said.
This is the first surrender by naxals in Gadchiroli this year, police said adding that 22 ultras had given themselves up in the district last year.
